Just a quick post on the U.S. cattle market. Its getting worse and who knows when it will get better?
I know I am probably one of the few if not only cattle rancher within my substack subscribers and probably one of the few writers on substack that raises cattle and feed out cattle - conception to table. So you may be think why is he writing about cattle markets, it does not affect me nor do I care. It does affect all of us, if we eat beef and even if we don’t. If you don’t and their is a shortage beef eaters will move to other source and that source may be the one you’re eating.
This market is going to affect you for years, it is going to affect ranchers for years if not decades and will also affect US beef imports
Recent data from the American Farm Bureau Federation shows a troubling trend: calf numbers have decreased by 2% year over year, reaching the lowest levels since 1948.
Let that sink in for a minute - how many of us were even laying in our crib and crawling on the floor in 1948? The US population in 1948 was 146 million vs 342 million today. So we are trying to feed a nation that more than doubled in population with those numbers? Yes imports can make up the difference. Do we want that?
The US Government has many restrictions on vaccinations and feed that most other countries do not have. This year many common medicines are no longer available OTC. WE need a prescription from a vet. So instead of for instance buying tetnus vaccine when castrating bulls I now have to call a vet, ask for a script and then go to the vet and get it, or have the vet send the script to a online vet supply store and wait for delivery. Worldwide tetnus and other vaccines for black leg or other diseases are available OTC. Many of these vaccines have waiting period between injection and slaughter. Have these imported cattle had the required wait time? Who knows as even the ominpresent USDA cannot be everywhere in the world inspecting beef slaughter. Which brings us to boxed or slaughtered beef entering the country. Who is inspecting this beef in these foreign packing plants? Yea the foreign country that who knows what the inside of that plant looks like. Yet here I cannot sell beef by the piece without full USDA inspection. Do you trust the corrupt Mexican government to adhere to USDA inspection rules? LOL hardly, how about Paraguay? Argentina?
Why the low cattle numbers? Like my previous post stated
We have a whole lot of negative things in the cattle market. Rancher age, cost of entry, young people not entering the ranching business, government interference with ranching. All this is true with agriculture in general, but with livestock the barriers are even greater. We are very quickly loosing our knowledge base of how to grow and raise agricultural products.
When I first started farming we nearly all cultivated our row crops, now nobody does. It does take some know how to properly cultivate, timing, speed, amount of dirt thrown and hilled up and it also takes - well a cultivator! which if a farmer has one its setting in a tree line with trees growing through it or its been cut up and used to repair or make other things around the farm.
Where do we go from here?
We are definitely going to see higher prices for beef short term. The current bird flu scam is an attempt to destroy or hamstring the cattle industry. Now their are restrictions on dairy cattle sales. Dairy cattle are used for hamburger and much of the imported beef is also ground into hamburger. This will result in tighter markets. The USDA is using the failed useless PCR test. We all now know how well that test worked for testing for covid and how the government upped the recycling testing rate to show more covid than was present. Their is also a line of thought that this current bird flu is a manufactured gain of function disease. Is this why Eco Health has had their funds taken away?
The US government will more than likely relax beef imports to bring down prices further destroying US cattle markets. However with the eugenicist like Bill Gates and the rest of the Pinky and the Brain ruling class wanting their investment in fake meat to turn into a profit the government they control may nix imports and just plan on starving us. All these fake meats are plant based, soybeans, peas, wheat etcetera sprayed with who knows what. With who knows what for rodent excrement. Crop land washes and or blows away - its that simple. Some how these control freak liars have convinced people

( latter two pictures are from my drive to work this morning. ) You can see all the soil erosion. In the fields the top soils is at the bottom of the hill no or in the creek .
is better than this
Properly managed pastures just do not do this. Oh sure if you’ve got a gully washer they will wash a little - very little. My pastures will now take a well at least a 5” rain because that is what we had over night and I see no erosion in my pastures. The neighbors soybean and corn fields - its obvious. Just because Bill Gates owns farmland here in Nebraksa and has soybeans and corn planted does not mean his fake meat ground is immune to erosion. It looks no different that any other crop field. Bill Gate$ cares about contol and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ not you, not the planet not anything but his ego and his lording over you.
We have been complacent over the last 50+ years and just went about our lives while the ruling class set up everything to control us. We are about to loose that comfort if many of us have not already We will become a sicker nation - if that is even possible. A weaker nation, a nation of people unable to survive without a grant of food from our owners - government.
Do what you want, ignore what is happening right in front of our eyes or prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Buying products from local farmers and ranchers by passes government and big AG which are actively trying to make us dependent upon them. Buying from a small farmer or even a small business helps us all. Corporate America HATES their customers.
A freezer full of beef purchased from your local farmer will somewhat buffer you from these high prices for a while. If you keep your freezer at or below zero properly wrapped beef will last for a long time.
I've just finished watching Clarkson's Farm (it's funny, give it a go) here in the UK and I feel so sorry for all farmers all over the world.
